MORE ABOUT AMADEA
I teach about Polarity Therapy, Ayurveda, and healing at the
local, national, and international levels. I have been teaching
about Ayurvedic nutrition and energetic healing since 1985.
My initial training in nutrition came at Stanford University
and the University of California at Berkeley. I first became
interested in Ayurveda when, as a Western nutrition educator,
I met Dr. Vasant Lad in the fall of 1982. I subsequently studied
in workshop settings with Drs. Smita and Pankaj Naram of Bombay,
Drs. Sunil and Shalmali Joshi of Nagpur, India, and Dr. David
Frawley of Santa Fe, New Mexico. I combined this training with
reading of the ancient Ayurvedic texts available in English,
and observation of myself, my clients, my students, and the
seasons.
My interest is in integrating ancient Ayurvedic principles
of healing with modern day concerns and needs. I have taught
across the continent about Ayurvedic nutrition, including Kripalu
Institute, Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda, the
Ayurvedic Institute of Albuquerque, the International Institute
of Ayurveda in Massachusetts, the annual Southwest Yoga conference,
and the Sivananda Yoga Ashram Camp of Montreal, Canada. Currently
I am on the guest faculty of the Scherer Institute of Santa
Fe, New Mexico, offering training in Ayurvedic Polarity Therapy.
I deeply enjoy working with the public and practitioners in
training.
I am open to working with any system of health or beliefs
or foods that is healing for the individual. I integrate my
twenty-one years of experience in Ayurveda with thirty years
of work in the field of nutrition education (BS, nutrition,
UC. Berkeley, 1974, MA, counseling, Southwestern College, 1987)
to create programs about food that are healing for the specific
individual.
