Ayurvedic Polarity Therapy includes energetic touch, awareness, movement, and energetic nutrition. The touch is done while a person is completely clothed, and can be light, medium, or deep touch, depending on the person and their needs. "It's a technique similar to acupuncture, except that a polarity practitioner uses his or her hands and a light touch, rather than fine needles, to unleash tension and restore energy." (New
Health, vol. 1, no. 9). It uses the ancient marma points of yoga and Ayurveda from India.
Ayurvedic
Polarity integrates ancient Ayurvedic principles with modern
Polarity Therapy energetic practices, to help you relax,
regroup, and find your center in the midst of change. It
works with energy, the energy of the doshas, the nadis (channels),
the elements, and the dhatus (essential tissues). When these
are out of balance we can experience low energy, stuck or
obstructed energy, excess energy, or"tired-wired" sensations.
When these energies are freed up, we can feel much better.
Sessions
often bring a sense of peace, resolution, healing, increased
awareness, and, in some cases, more energy, if you need
it. The focus is to help your doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha)
balance themselves, with gentle touch and the use of ancient
marma point therapy. As your doshas calm down, you can,
too! When the doshas are in balance, we heal faster and can
cope with stress better. It helps us marshal our wisdom and
apply grounded, practical thinking to the challenges of our
current lives. Sessions typically last an hour to an hour
and a half.
As a
registered polarity practitioner, Amadea has been working
with this form of body-centered energetic healing practice
since 1997. She is a member in good standing with the American
Polarity Therapy Association, and a certified polarity educator.
She brings her years of experience in nutrition, counseling,
and Ayurveda to her work in Ayurvedic Polarity Therapy.
